FUE- What level of coverage can be expected
There is a natural desire amongst clients to get most of their baldness covered .but as much as we would love to see such coverage, this basically depends on a number of factors.
Donor hair- limited supply
The first thing to remember is that there is a limit to how many follicles can be harvested from a given scalp and hair transplantation is essentially a redistribution of hair follicles from donor to the recipient areas on the scalp
How many follicles can be harvested
Donor hair follicles can only be harvested from the permanent zone from the back and sides of the scalp.
Depending on the area to be covered there is only so much hair available for extraction from the donor area in order to avoid creating awkward areas of skin show.
Around a third of all follicles in the donor area may be extracted.
With an FUE procedure there could be on average a maximum of 5000 -6000 units available which can be harvested in parts with an interval in between to cover the baldness.
